Salvador Andrade Arévalo was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and raised in the Chicagoland area. He is a trained printmaker that works primarily in painting, drawing, and installation.
He received both his BA ('10) and MFA ('22) from Yale University in Painting & Printmaking. In between these degrees, he earned an MPhil in Latin American Studies from the University of Cambridge ('12), with a thesis that focused on 19th century Mexican lithography.
He has held residencies and fellowships with Spudnik Press (2015), Fulbright (Mexico City 2018), SOMA Summer (2021), Yale University Art Gallery (2021), Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library (2021), Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art (2022), and Chicago Artists Coalition (BOLT 2023).
In addition, his artwork is included in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Mexican Art and the Willis Tower, both in Chicago.
